Installing Downloaded Programs Using The .EXE file

BEFORE YOU START:  A file extension is the three or four letters after "." (period or dot) in a file name.  For instance, in a Word Document, the file extesion is .doc.  So if you named your file dogs, then the file would look like this:  dogs.doc

All files on a computer have a file extension, but some are hidden so that users can see the extension.  You need to change the settings so that you can see the extensions in all of your files.

To make the setting changes:
1.  Open MY COMPUTER
2.  Go to TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS
3.  Select the VIEW Tab at the top
4.  Under the first grouping FILES AND FOLDERS you will see another folder called HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and two choices:

Do not show hidden files and folders     AND
Show hidden files and folders (CHOOSE THIS ONE)

5.  Directly under that you will see a check box next to HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES make sure this is unchecked THEN

6.  Directly under that you will see HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES make sure this unchecked

and then select OK
That's it!
