INTRODUCTION TO Nvu

1.  Double click on the Nvu Icon to open the program.  
2.  You should see the following following screen:  
3.  Open the file you would like to edit by pressing File, Open File.  
4.  Select the file you would like to edit and press "Open."  
  
5.  To add a new table:  
All items on a web page (text, picture, or other) must be located within a table.  Tables are what hold a web page together!  

To insert a table press Table, Insert, Table.  

    
6.  Select the "Precisely" tab of the Insert Table dialog box.  Type in the number of rows and columns you desire (the numbers will vary depending on your needs).  Type in 750 pixels for the width of the table (make sure that it says "pixels" next to the 750 width, or your table will be enormous.)  Type "0" in the Border box (unless you would like the border of your table to be visible.  Then, you should select a number above 0.)  Press Ok and.... 
  
7.  Voila, a table.  
   
8.  To insert a graphic:  

First, make sure that your graphics are a decent size for the internet (see our graphics tutorial) and that you have moved the graphic into your web (for example, you have taken mypicture.jpg from your "My Pictures" folder and placed it in the about us folder of your web [c:/YourWebSite/aboutus/mypicture.jpg].  

Place your cursor in the cell or table where you would like to insert your graphic.  Press "Insert, Image."

  
9.  The Image Properties dialog box will open.  Press "Choose File."
   
10.  Select your image by clicking on it.  Press "open."  
  
11.  In the Image Properties dialog box, press "Ok."  NOTE:  Select "Don't Use Alternate Text."  
  
12.  Your image has been inserted.  Remember to Save!  
   
Suggestion:  Now, use Core FTP to upload your web page!
