If your site is hacked:
1. Make sure you have the most updated copy of the program AND mods.
2. Do this first:   Disable Guest Posting - To do this. In the Admin panel under FORUM ADMIN, click PERMISSIONS, then press the LOOK UP FORUM button and select a topic. Then chose REGISTERED to restrict posting to registered users only.
3. change your board passwords for : board, database, ftp, etc.
4. check for admins who should not be admins.
5. File an incident report: http://www.phpbb.com/support/incidents/
6. Make sure to back up your forum often. At least once a week, even once a day, if possible.

Look in your CPANEL to see if you can automatically install the program. These directions are not complete.

phpMyAdmin Version -2.8.2

You must have php and MySQL loaded on your server first.

1. Download and Unzip

2. Load onto server (into web root) directory in your web root, preferrably named "phpMyAdmin" and copy all distro files to it.

3. Create a file named config.inc.php. (open notepad and just name it)

4. Find a file in your phpMyAdmin "libraries" folder named CONFIG.DEFAULT.PHP. Copy all of the contents of this file into the config.inc.php (just copy and paste everything). Make sure ONLY to change the config.inc.php file when you edit.

5. Open config.inc.php and fine tune: (OPTIONAL)

              a. host       (Leave "localhost" if the MySQL server is on the same server as your web server.
                                             If not, put the machine name of the MySQL server (do not put a URL there).
              b. user
              c. password
              d. authentication mode

6. Upload the edited config.inc.php to the server into the folder that contains the index.php file. (The folder may be named something like phpmyadmin-2.8.2)

6. Open the file <www.your-host.com>/<your-install-dir>/index.php in your browser. phpMyAdmin should now display a welcome screen and your databases, or a login dialog if using HTTP or cookie authentication mode. www.domain.com/phpmyadmin-2.8.2/index.php

4. Then configure the "conf.inc.php" file to match your database settings.

config.default.php instead of

Windows will read the INSTALL file.
rename it to INSTALL.TXT and windows will open it.
