Transferring a Domain

Note:  Make sure you have all user names, passwords, and mail data before beginning this process.

Initial Plesk Set-up

1.  Log into the Tech's Choice account at https://ghzdns.net:8443

2.  Click Add a New Domain

3.  Make sure "www" is checked off.

4.  Type in the name of the domain you are transferring.  (i.e. blahblah.com)

5.  If desired, limit diskspace and bandwidth by choosing an option from the "select template" drop down menu.

6.  Press "Ok"

Transferring Using FTP (from digihost to plesk)

1.  Open FTP Explorer

2.  Rename Account FTP to OLD (for example, an account named blah blah would be renamed to OLDblahblah.)

3.  Connect to the "Old" account (this connects to the digihost server).

4.  Double click on Public HTML

5.  Create a folder for the blah blah files in C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\MOVE_Domains 2004.

6.  Copy all the files from within Public HTML to C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\MOVE_Domains 2004\blahblah2004move

7.  When the transfer is complete, check the KB values of all files (match between server and computer to make sure the transfer was complete.)  Fix any problems.

8.  Close FTP Explorer.

9.  Reopen FTP Explorer and create a new FTP client entry for the domain (Blah Blah 2005).  Use the same username and password (for consistency), but use the shared IP address instead of the digihost IP address.

10.  Save entry and connect.

11.  Double click on httpdocs.

12.  Copy and Paste all files from the C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\MOVE_Domains 2004\blahblah2004move folder to httpdocs.

13.  In C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\MOVE_Domains 2004\blahblah2004move, rename index.htm to index.html.  Copy and Paste this document into httpdocs and allow it to replace the preexisting index.html file.

14.  Note that index.htm links will have to be changed to .html links by changing in frontpage and uploading.
