How to Use FTP Explorer |

| FTP Explorer Caution: You are directly connected to the servers when you use this program. Any deletions and changes are permanent. Create a backup folder on the desktop of your computer and drag whatever you're going to delete into the folder BEFORE deleting it. For changes, save a copy of the original before uploading your changes. You will save yourself by following this advice. | ||
| THE TUTORIAL This tutorial is designed to instruct e-commerce clients in the process of adding images to the web store and backing up web store data. The process explained can also be useful for other projects. | ||
| 1. OPENING AND CONNECTING a. Click twice on the FTP Explorer Icon b. As indicated by the following picture: 1. Enter a name (any name is o.k.) 2. Enter the domain name OR IP Address 3. Username 4. Password c. Press Connect | ||

| 2. Click twice on Virtual_Html (this is where your web site is stored). | ||

| 3. Click CGI-Local (This is where your web store is stored). HINT: To back up your entire web store drag the CGI-local directory onto your desktop and save it to disk. The three most important files in the webstore are data_files, the images folder, agora_db. NOTE: FTP Explorer often does not copy sub-folder contents. Make sure you compare the data in your folders to the downloaded version and drag in the necessary information. | ||

| 4. Click the STORE folder | ||

| 5. Most work is done in the HTML folder. This is where the front of your web store is located, frontpage.html. This is also where images are located. | ||

| 6. To download a file from the server to your computer, locate the folder, hold your mouse key down while pointing to the folder and drag the file or folder onto your desktop. To upload, drag the file or folder from your desktop onto the ftp folder where you want the file. | ||
